Support beyond daily personal care

A caretaker is an important part of care.

Daily personal care is one part of your loved one’s wellbeing.

An appropriate Yodda Care Plan brings wider support around that routine: care coordination, wellbeing calls, help arranging healthcare and emergency support within the selected plan’s terms.

The team can help you choose a plan around your family’s needs and explain its included Visits, allowances and separate service charges. These plan benefits are separate from standalone caretaker placement.

The Yodda difference

Care should come with ongoing accountability.

01

Sourcing and placement

Yodda sources caretakers only through vetted, verified partner bureaus. The bureau supplies the caretaker; Yodda coordinates the placement around your loved one’s needs, home routine and agreed hours.

02

Checks available on request

Police and background checks can be arranged on request and may cost extra. They are not automatic: confirm the checks requested and their completion for your particular placement before proceeding.

03

Monitoring and concerns

Yodda provides ongoing oversight and check-ins to support quality, consistency and accountability. Agree the check-in arrangements and how to raise concerns before placement. Contact Yodda with a concern or replacement request. Agree how your loved one and family can raise an urgent concern, and ask whether a private word or phrase can help your loved one ask discreetly. Individual performance and replacement availability cannot be guaranteed.

Already have a caretaker? Speak with Yodda about your current arrangement and the support you need. The team will confirm whether monitoring is available for that arrangement.

Make the arrangement work

Agree on the caretaker responsibilities and terms.

Before booking, confirm duties, hours, availability, requested checks, monitoring and charges with Yodda. You can request 12-hour or 24-hour support, or ask about both; the team will confirm availability. Agree the support with your loved one and respect their comfort and consent.

The caretaker’s work

Support should respect your loved one’s comfort and dignity. Agreed personal care may include bathing, toileting, dressing, oral feeding assistance, mobility and transfers, supervision and companionship.

Caretakers are not domestic help, nurses or doctors. Cooking, cleaning, dishes, laundry, errands and driving are outside this role. Injections, clinical medication management, feeding-tube procedures, diagnosis and treatment require appropriate clinical support.

Discuss nursing and clinical support

Your family’s part

Agree the daily routine, duties and hours with Yodda before the placement. Help your loved one understand the arrangement and tell Yodda when their needs change.

Honour the agreed placement duration where possible and keep the care team informed about how the arrangement is working.

Dos and don’ts for a good care arrangement

Do

  • Treat the caretaker respectfully and provide a clean washroom.
  • Provide suitable meals and sleeping arrangements for a 24-hour caretaker.
  • Allow reasonable personal time when your loved one is resting and assistance is not needed.
  • Raise concerns and payment questions with Yodda.

Don’t

  • Do not discuss salary or payment directly with the caretaker.
  • Do not entrust the caretaker with ATM PINs, cash or valuables.
  • Do not ask the caretaker to take on household chores or clinical procedures outside the agreed personal-care role.

Payments and replacements

Keep the arrangement clear from the start.

All caretaker payments are made through Yodda. Yodda confirms the arrangement before payment.

  • Placements are generally for a minimum of 15 days.
  • Three days are paid upfront.
  • If your family wishes to continue, the continuation payment period is 15–30 days.

Ask the team to explain how these periods apply to your arrangement before you pay.

Contact the Yodda care team to request a replacement and discuss availability and any applicable charges. A maximum of three caretaker/nurse replacements applies per engagement, regardless of the reason. After that, further sourcing is not obligatory; a proportionate facilitation-fee refund may be considered at Yodda’s discretion.

Placement refunds are limited to death, a serious change in condition, or inability to source suitable profiles within a reasonable time, subject to the Terms & Conditions.
